Ingredients
1
beef flank steak (2 lb./900 g)
1 bottle
(355 mL) beer
1 cup
Heinz Tomato Ketchup
1 cup
HP Sauce Original
1/4 cup
packed brown sugar
1/4 cup
Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar
3
green onions, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp
crushed red pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Make shallow cross-cuts in both sides of steak; place in shallow dish.
Step 2
Mix remaining ingredients until blended. Reserve 1 cup tomato sauce mixture for later use; pour remaining tomato sauce mixture over steak. Turn to evenly coat both sides of steak. Refrigerate overnight to marinate.
Step 3
Bring reserved tomato sauce mixture to boil in saucepan; simmer on medium-low heat 30 min. or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Cool. Meanwhile, heat barbecue to medium heat.
Step 4
Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Grill steak 7 to 8 min. on each side or until medium doneness (160ºF). Transfer steak to cutting board; cover with foil. Let stand 10 min.
Step 5
Cut steak across the grain into thin slices. Serve topped with tomato sauce mixture.
